School Daze

Monday marked the first official day of school for Jacob. He was ready to go and started talking about it on Sunday. When the moment of truth arrived, Mommy had to pick Jacob up early. Jacob cried the whole time he was there! This happened his first year so we're hoping time will pass and he will again enjoy his class. Regardless, he looked very official before stepping into the room.

Party Week

Hump Day is almost finished and it's already been a busy week with more to come.

Sunday-Patrick was baptized. Bebe, Pops, Aunt Renee, and Uncle Bill were in town and joined the "locals" for the baptism and pre-baptism party, which all turned out just lovely.

Tuesday-Nana's birthday. We had a nice celebration at the Heberts.

Wednesday-Jacob's "meet the teachers" day. Suzanne and I escorted Jacob to meet his new teachers and see his new classmates. Most of the room is holdovers from last year's class so Jacob already knows most of them. I have dubbed him "Mr. Personality" after watching him interact with his friends on the first day back.

Thursday-Aunt Erin, Ethan, and Keira arrive in town. Jacob loves his cousins and cannot wait to play with them. They'll be here for several days!

Of course, I have pictures of the baptism and will take pictures of the weekend. Of course, I probably need to charge my camera battery which has been dead since Sunday. Once done, I'll of course post some late pictures.

Name Recognition

Suzanne has started sewing again (not for business...sorry!) and has recently completed some of Patrick's first monogrammed outfits. In my humble opinion, she gets better and better with each try. Here's proof.

By the way, I may not have mentioned this...but Jacob and Patrick really love one another.

Time Flies

It's hard to believe I'm taking pictures of Jacob on a bike and at his own table. Thanks to his grandparents (the Hebert gave him the bike, the Bristers...the table) Jacob is now participating in "big boy" activities. He still looks dang cute doing it if I say so myself. The most difficult part of all this was finding him a helmet that fit his head!!! We still haven't properly taught him how to peddle with his feet but he's slowly learning.

Poor George

George spends most of his time these days sleeping. But when he's not asleep he's usually dodging various objects being thrown at him by Jacob. Now, Patrick is starting to take notice of who George is. If he doesn't die of old age first, George is in for a REALLY rude awakening in about a year.

Mr. Clean

Most people believe Jacob looks like me. I can say without hesitation that he has many of his mother's personality traits, especially the desire for a clean house. Most every night he picks a room in which he thinks is a mess and points out all the dirt, suggesting that it should be vaccumed up. I'm not exagerating!

As evidence, Suzanne cleaned house recently and Jacob noticed some dust on the fan. This was his effort to help out. Better man than me!!!

Flashback: July 31, 2010

The Brister foursome recently made its first family trip into the city of New Orleans. We took Jacob to the Children's Museum and he loved it. Some of the highlights: meeting McGruff the crime dog (picture not included), playing in the bubbles, and touring Mr. Rogers neighborhood. Oddly, he did not like the kids grocery store, which was Suzanne's favorite growing up. I was also fond of the grocery at the Pink Palace in Memphis, where I believe I took a field trip in elementary school.

Introducing...Conversations with Jacob

I have been looking forward to this series which I'm sure will last many, many years. Jacob has now reached the stage where he's thinking independently and we can carry on small, non-sensical conversations. I plan on posting many of these during this stretch.

The first two have occurred over the past two days.

DADDY: Jacob, did you take a nap today?
JACOB: Yes!
DADDY: How long did you sleep.
JACOB: Two minutes!!!

DADDY: Where's the camera?
JACOB: Camera...gone.
JACOB: Mommy take camera?
(Mommy was at the gym)
