Happy and Healthy

We got back from the beach Sunday and headed straight to the doctor's office for routine checkups on Monday. The two year old checkup for Jacob and the two month old checkup for Patrick. Both kids had shots and both handled them very well. Jacob has also been battling some "crud" but seems better today.

Big brother now weighs 27 pounds while "little" brother P is almost half that size already!!! 12 pounds, 9 ounces. He definitely does not miss a meal.

Here are a few leftover beach pictures of our family. I'm particularly fond of the family picture, as that pretty much describes how life is right now.

And I would not be a good daddy if I didn't point out that Patrick's smile is far more the norm these days. I never have updated the blog to indicate that he seems to be over reflux/colic/constipation or whatever it was that he had. He LOVES anything that provides stimulation!

Pool Party

Friday afternoon, for the first time, the entire Hebert family spent some time together at the pool. I took the camera out and got some great pictures of Jacob in action. He is very brave and has been taught well! Patrick also made his first outdoor appearance at the pool.

Beach Bum

Jacob has gotten some extensive beach/pool time this week. The weather has been scorching...but great for all sorts of fun. Here are some shots I snapped earlier today.

Birthday Beach Bash

As promised, some pictures from Jacob's second birthday bash. Jacob was very well thought of and got plenty of well wishes including greetings from Bebe and Pops plus Erin, Ethan and Keira on Skype. Aunt Maz and Aunt Ray Ray called. Jacob heard "Happy To You" plenty of times and definitely knew it was his special day.

As for the beach festivities, we kept it very informal. After his nap, he opened his gifts, his early favorites include his Buzz Lightyear doll, his sketch pad and his Cars watch.

After gift opening, we went to Johnny Rockets in SanDestin, which is a 50's diner type place. Jacob enjoyed some of Aunt KK's malt and the good 50's music. He had a mini-dance with Nana and KK at the dinner table.

Afterwards, we came home and sang Happy Birthday one last time and had cupcakes and (more) ice cream! We all wore Thomas hats, including little Patrick who has been a doll.

Happy Birthday Jacob

I would be remiss if I did not mention...on this day...that our oldest son was born two years ago. Heck, almost to the hour that I'm posting this message! Jacob turned two today and I honestly don't know where the time has gone.

We had a small celebration in Destin (for the Hebert family vacation). Jacob enjoyed a cupcake and ice cream before heading to bed and I hope to have proof on here tomorrow.

I would do it tonight but the gadgets I need to post pictures online are just beside his bed and I ain't going there!!!

Still, we love Jacob who is truly a good and sweet boy....most of the time.

Growing Older

Brotherly Bath

Tonight marked a first...a joint bath! Both boys love their baths and were happy to share with one another. Patrick seems to be getting a bit better although he does likely have a little reflux AND constipation, which is a balancing act for sure. However, he's smiling and cooing and such which is a nice thing. We may have a shot or two of his smile. Stay tuned. He now weighs 11 pounds and 11 ounces.

And Jacob is really starting to grasp his words. I look forward to the day where I can post some of our conversations...we're getting there but right now, he's in copycat mode.

Fun on the Fourth

We celebrated a big July 4th in Mandeville yesterday. Jacob, Patrick and I went to a 4th kiddie parade in our neighborhood in the morning and Suzanne joined us at the pool later.
And I did something I don't think I've ever done in my life...cooked twice in one day. We had pancakes for breakfast and steaks for dinner. A decent effort for someone who doesn't think fondly of his own cooking. There's always room for improvement!
Nevertheless, it was great spending time with friends and our two boys continue to get bigger and love one another.
