Batman and Pumpkin

What a week! We have now officially been inducted into toddlerhood. I cannot think of a time where we've ever celebrated so much Halloween. Most of it this past week. I've posted several pictures but am working backwards here. Tonight, we had some friends over to our house for trick or treating in Beau Chene. The mothers stayed back and watched the babies while the fathers hit the trick trail. Jacob was a bat this year and Patrick wore the pumpkin made by my Granny for J's first Halloween. We had a blast and Jacob really enjoyed trick or treating with friends, Lila, Bennett, Elise, Myrt, and Reece!

Saturday night we went into New Orleans for the annual Boo at the Zoo festival. We met the Parnells and the Barrois' there. Jacob went trick-or-treating but I think had more fun dancing, to be honest.

Wednesday night, I took Jacob to the club. We were solo as Patrick had tubes put in his ears and had a tongue procedure and had been very grumpy that day!

Last Sunday, we joined the Mills for Trunk or Treat at St. Timothy's Church, where Jacob attends school.

Elmo

The worldwind weekends continue around here. Sunday we had our first experience trick or treating. But Saturday, the fun began as Su and I took Jacob to see Elmo in New Orleans. As we were walking to our seats, I saw a couple of familiar faces as we drew closer. Turns out Nick and Myrt Mills were literally sitting right next to us. That was not planned! But all five of us had a great time. Jacob was really into it.

Weekend at Bernie's

This past weekend started a whirlwind of activities for the Brister Foursome over the next several weeks. We travelled to Lafayette on Saturday to celebrate Sister Bernadine Breaux'x EIGHTIETH anniversary of being a nun. No, that's not a typo. A little background on Sister. She is Ron's mother's sister...the last living sibling (I believe there were 11?). Again, not a typo. I have met Sister on a few occassions and she's not changed one bit. Looks exactly the same, even at 95. I know the Heberts and Suzanne enjoyed seeing some old family friends at such a wonderful event.

Sister needs to realize that Patrick would likely eat that chicken wing!

....On to Saturday, where we attended an Octoberfest type fair at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, before heading to the pumpkin patch.

Sadly, this is the first picture I've taken of Su and the boys together!

Tube Time

It has been a long time since I've posted and some long nights since I've posted! Poor Patrick has been sick for the better part of a month. Lots of congestion, coughing, and unfortunately ear infections. He's already had three of them. Today, we took Patrick to an ear, nose, and throat specialist at the recommendation of his pediatrician. We knew what was coming. The ENT specialist recommended tubes. We have decided to take her advice. We're told it's very unusual for him to have had such frequent ear infections in the summer and fear it would be worse in the winter. Patrick also has an issue with his tongue that would require a small procedure and anethesia. Luckily, we'll be able to have these two things done at once by the same doctor. We'll call Friday to set up the appointment and I'll do my best to keep you in the loop. Outside of his issues, Patrick remains a very happy and FAT boy. He weighs 17 pounds!!! Here he is displaying one of his homemade Halloween shirts from mommy.

Jacob is a different animal. We are really enjoying him at this stage...for the most part. He's gotten to the point where he's really picking up on things we're saying and doing and is starting to copy us. An example, the other night Suzanne wanted to take a picture of his hair because it looked very funny from behind. She snapped this picture:

She then said "I can't really get a shot of the back." So Jacob did this...
