How could I forget?

I can't believe I went a couple of days without mentioning the fact that Jacob is six months old! That's right; he was born July 20th...so he recently reached his sixth month milestone. I absolutely cannot believe how time has flown recently. On one hand, I cannot remember him being small but on the other he is turning into a little boy more and more every day and cannot stop growing fast enough! Pretty soon, we will be celebrating Birthday #1!

Jordan is one of my little cousins from Grenada. Like the rest of them, I don't get to see nearly enough of her. She is getting so tall and cute and I'm sure her parents will have to scare the boys away from her in due time. Anyway, I always get a kick (and usually a chuckle) out of her posts, so please check it out; she works very hard at it!

All is well...and milestones

First things first. Things appear to be back into fine working order. Since my last post, Suzanne got what Jacob had and then Jacob got fever and a mild ear infection. We have since visited the doctor (Jacob, not Suzanne...she's "toughed it out" on her own), taken some antibiotics and slowly worked back into an everyday routine. Jacob is sleeping much better and so are we!

Here lately, I have been heckled by a certain family member to post pictures. Said family member has bribed me within the past three days with homecooked food. Being one to always take charity, I decided to throw this family member a bone! I am only telling you this because my lack of pictures has not come from dealing with illness...rather laziness during posting hours.

Jacob has been doing lots of growing up in between his viruses and I have been able to capture several of his newest milestones.

Update

Jacob has seemingly recovered from RSV and it appears he dodged the worst of the virus. Many children have to have breathing treatments or even stays in the hospital but it never got that bad for the little fella.

However, it now appears we've created a monster as he is none too happy about returning to his crib. Suzanne and I listened to him yell for nearly an hour (we checked on him a few times!) during his nap this morning. This after he yelled last night; we decided to keep him with us one more night just in case this was still the virus or something like an ear infection.

We have both determined he just really, really likes us! I have taken some great pictures of him given his mommy kisses and plan on posting them soon. He certainly adores his mommy!

Really Stupid Virus update

The day ended better than it began for Jacob. He woke up this morning coughing up a storm and not breathing well at all. This lasted all morning and afternoon.

Then, I got home from work around 5 and apparently brought all of my magical powers with me. Jacob immediately smiled and semi-returned to his normal self. He was breathing better, coughing less, and went down for the count at about 8:15. He's still in his carseat at this typing and I'm sure he'll end up in bed with us later.

Sluggish Start

Well, it's been a sluggish start to the New Year for Jacob. We learned Saturday morning that he was in the beginning phases of RSV, which is a pretty bad respiratory virus for infants, if you don't already know. We had both noticed our usual jovial tot wasn't so much in recent days. Saturday morning he screamed bloody murder when I put him down for a nap, which was really odd. So I called the local urgent care clinic and we went right away...only to learn this news.

Last night was rough for all of us. Jacob woke up every two to three hours. Babies with RSV truly have trouble breathing. Thererfore, you literally have to sleep with child on you while sitting upright. I handled most of that chore because I can sleep through anything. But Suzanne could not go to sleep worrying about the both of us.

This explains the lack of posts in recent days. One of us has pretty much held him the entire time over the last three or four days. And when he's not clinging to us, he's sleeping in this awkward position.

 

Needless to say, we could use the thoughts and prayers. Many, many children go through this and there are certainly worse illnesses, but this is no fun! We are used to our always happy boy and even though he tries hard to crack a smile every now and then, it's usually in between coughs, sneezes, yelps, grunts, etc. We did go to the doctor again this morning and seems he's fighting through it pretty well. And I have my fingers crossed...he's been asleep for about three hours, the last two of which have been in his car seat next to our bed.

Meantime, I have gotten caught up with pictures from Christmas, so enjoy those posts below. I will try to update as much as possible, but if you get anxious, I will likely be talking to my mom every day via phone or work e-mail and she may have more insight than this blog. And I'm sure she will love me for revealing this fact to the public!
