The good news is that Jacob is making big efforts to start walking. He is still tentative at times. Yesterday, he decided to get brave and show off in front of some of his friends at the park and took a pretty nasty fall on the concrete. Below is the result. Actually, it looks much better now than displayed in the picture. Suzanne called the doctor, who advised us to check on him EVERY TWO HOURS overnight. I volunteered for that duty, considering I will be leaving Su with Jacob all weekend as I go into the big city for a fun-filled weekend capped off by the Saints-Giants game. I'm sure this is the first of many of these happenings!
This leads in nicely to the question David Cummings asked me to help me get off my "writer's block."QUESTION: What part of fatherhood were you least prepared for?
ANSWER: I would have to say the emotional aspect of being a parent. It's something my own parents have tried to describe as well as other friends and family but you really can't prepare until you have that child. There is no better feeling in the world than coming home from work, Jacob seeing me for the first time that day and being so excited. On the other hand, when he's sick or hurting, it's simply impossible to describe the feelings and concern you go through as a parent for your child. Last night, I had no qualms about waking up every two hours. It's that moment of making sure he's OK that it's impossible to prepare for. I assume this makes sense! I wouldn't trade the role of fatherhood for anything, though and I know Suzanne would say the same about motherhood. We are both enjoying this time, though, that's for sure!
McKenzie, to answer your question...
Do you really have magical powers?
ANSWER: Of course, I do. In fact, just this moment I have made the picture disappear from the top of the page! I will make it re-appear before you go to school Monday morning and you will have your proof!!!

First of many shiners, I promise you!!..There were times I was scared someone would accuse us of child abuse, but you just expect bruises and scrapes with active kiddoes..As Jacob learns to walk and run, he will have lots of falls...
Being a Saints and Giants fan, I couldn't help but be proud of the Saints' today, but just wish they had not had so much success against the Giants..I was pulling for Eli and the Giants, for sure..
Thanks for sharing Jacob with us..He is adorable, shiner and all..
McKenzie says, "Oh, come on! That's easy!"
As a witness, I can say without a doubt you have a tough little boy on your hands. He handled his fall like a champ!!
Loved the insight into parenting...you are so right!

Jacob,
Your Bebe was so sad to learn you had gotten such a big boo-boo on your head.As everyone else has said,it will be the first of many as you become a very big boy.Your daddy says it's getting better, and for that I am glad.I looked at your blog on Pops' iphone while we were gone,so this is the first time I've gotten to "talk" to you.-sounds like your daddy has a real idea of what parenthood is all about~what he doesn't know is that even when you are 32 yrs.old you will still be a very special "little boy" to him!!! We miss you.
love and more love,
Bebe
