Happy Mother's Day Mommy

Suzanne made an interesting point last night that I don't think we men will ever fully understand. While in the middle of watching a movie, she asked me if I'd check the monitor to see if Jacob was OK. Not fully understanding why she would randomly get distracted, I asked why she wanted that done. "Because he's my son and I love him," she said. Well, there wasn't much I could do with that response and I indeed checked the monitor to see him sleeping, safe and sound!

As a man, I cannot imagine what any mother goes through just to provide their child or children one day of life. I can certainly understand the attachment mother would have to child, though, given the physical and mental demands of it all. I am attached to both and am very happy to have them in my life...so Happy Mother's Day, Suzanne!

And to my very own mother...I am so happy to have someone who loves me as much now as she did almost 33 years ago. I am privileged all the way around!

Lastly, a shout out to my mother-in-law, Miss Peggy, who is the greatest mother-in-law a guy could ask for.

Springtime Socialites

Baby #2 is just two weeks away so we are trying to get some last minute "visiting" in before we become invalids for a month or two. Last weekend, we visited Reece Richardson, her new baby brother Porter and of course Mack and Lindsey. Suzanne and Mack went to school and Su has become friends with Lindsey, as they actually met in the hospital, both being there at the same time with Jacob and Reece. It is crazy to see how fast they are growing up. Mack cooked some BBQ Shrimp. Mmmm, mmmm, mmmm! The highlight of the night was the raspberry eating contest Jacob and Reece had. Reece clearly won by a 2 to 1 margin. Of course, we bought Jacob raspberry after this, which he spits out. It's funny what little ones will eat when other little ones are eating it! Relaxing Boy

I'm back to the real world! And as promised, some "fresh" pictures. In reality, I took these about two weeks ago but they are too funny not to post. This is Jacob's new play room at snack time. He's seemingly enjoying it, wouldn't you say so! Jacob is developing quite the personality (some good, some bad) and I hope we can capture some of it on camera before baby #2 arrives.

Quick update and an acknowledgment

It's been a while and for good reason. I have been swamped with a variety of things and simply haven't had time to post pictures.

Believe it or not, but we are under 3 weeks from baby #2! Suzanne has had a few doctor's visits and baby #2 is as stubborn as baby #1 was. It's not moving an inch!

The purpose of this post will likely embarrass Suzanne but she deserves for you to know what a tough and loyal person she is being right now. I am trying to cram as much work in as possible and somehow months ago decided to run a fundraiser for my Rotary Club, which will conclude this Saturday.

Essentially, I've not been home Wednesday night, Thursday night and will be out all day Friday and Saturday. I would say the fundraiser has been a major challenge. I still would not stack it up against the sacrifice and challenge that Suzanne has dealt with. At 37 weeks of pregnancy, she's almost single-handedly providing for a growingly stubborn "almost" 2 year old...don't get me wrong, Jacob is still sweet and she would agree...but his little mind is certainly developing some patterns. She's still sewing (now for us mostly and not business) and getting the house ready for baby #2. I have pitched in sporadically but not very well, frankly.

Su is exhausted and I've had a variety of emotions of leaving her solo to manage nearly all our home tasks but she deserves major kudos for her toughness and her love. Please shoot her an e-mail or a comment here as I hope the encouragement will help her make it through two more days of my absense.

I have assured her that I will focus on the family starting May 2! In hindsight, I wish it would've been done earlier but we can hope that some good things will come out of my commitments. I also promise our loyal viewers more pictures soon...and if Jacob's not careful some video proof that he's spoiled rotten!

A Visit from Bobo and Paas

Bobo and Paas came to town last weekend. This is how they're referred to at this point by Jacob. The three of them had a great time as evidenced by the pictures. Among the highlights...a trip to the park, a trip to the Mandeville Lakefront and plenty of time playing in our backyard. Unfortunately, I have told Bobo and Paas that Jacob now associates "outside" with them. Part of this is because they brought him a tool set to play with, complete with broom, rake and shovel! This perfectly matches the janitor's kit given to him by Nana and Paw-Paw a few months ago. I am so, so happy he enjoys cleaning more than me.

If he's going to be a performer, we'll have to teach him how to keep his eyes open with sunglasses on, apparently.

Going on an Egg Hunt

Jacob had a large time hunting eggs at Nana and Pawpaw's house this morning. By the end of the hunt, nana, Aunt Colie (Nicole), and Suzanne had taught him the importance of being a master hunter. He still has not figured out that he doesn't have to open each egg after he finds them to see what's inside! That will not win him many contests with a crowd. Wait til next year.
